A purrrrrrfect surprise!

So tonight Bona finished up our fence (well secure anyway...still some finishing touches).  It's been 3 years since we had an enclosed fence.  Sadie always loved running in our old fence so I couldn't wait to let her out to run and let Caleb chase her and laugh!  I tried to video it but stopped to yell at Addy to take her socks off and then I was going to get better footage.  While this was happening Sadie went over to the gas pump and went crazy!  There was 2 baby kittens behind it!  We locked Sadie out and the kids got the kittens and they were terrified shaking awful and trying to scratch the kids so I had them put them back.  Here are the best shot I got of them.  I didn't have time while they were holding them.

Bona is afraid the Momma won't come back now I hope so!  He put some food in a dish hoping that would coax Momma to stay.  We would love to have some outside kitty's to help keep mice down!  One was grey with black stripes and the other was a white and brown swirly color (very pretty and my favorite).

Please come back out kitty!

I am so glad Sadie didn't get them especially in front of the kids!

Handy Heather and Small projects

I find myself doing small projects around the house in an effort to make progress and to pacify my insecurities that nothing ever "gets done".

Today's project to make myself feel productive was changing the register in the bathroom.

Do you think it needs it?

Years of drippy hands from the towel bar above it have not been kind!  Since I am slightly more handy with tools than a monkey, I thought I'd be able to handle this.  My tool experience is limited to screwdrivers and hammers.  I've tried to use a drill a few times but I always end up stripping the screws out. By the way why is it you can only ever find the opposite screwdriver of the kind you need?

So I get the old register off and even though I tried really hard not to, I of course dropped a screw!  But look what I found in the duct while trying to retrieve the screw.

That's right!  Carpet fuzz and a quarter lol!  Now you know that quarter had help finding its way down there.

Wow it's even dirtier than I thought under there so I will vacuum the duct and wash the wall and floor.

Wow that made a huge difference and was totally worth it!  (Sarcasm intended)

Oh well time to put the new register on and no one will ever know how disgusting it is under there.  Wait a minute...now you do!  ;). This part of the project was harder than I thought because I couldn't get access to the screw holes without something hard and flat to pry it open.  Since I am too lazy to go back and get that standard screwdriver that quarter came in handy for this part.  It was also harder than I thought because the holes were in a different spot on the new register and since I don't use power tools I had to screw them in by hand.  I'd say it looks much better though wouldn't you?

I don't plan to say a word to Bona about this...lets see if he ever notices my "handy" work.

S'more Fun

Tonight we had a hot dog roast...not the brightest move considering the heat.  We waited to eat as late as we could to beat the heat but still get the kids to bed at a reasonable time.

Here's the fire pit area

We love this new area and plan to use it as much as possible.  It is so much fun sitting around a fire and visiting.  Why is that?

Here's Daddy getting the fire ready.

Here's how Caleb passed the time until dinner was ready.

The big boys made dinner tonight

We even had a visitor during our meal.  Even though he is hard to see there is a buck in this picture.

The evening was topped off with s'mores but I didn't get a picture of that because my fingers were too sticky!
